Relevant work experience and how it relates to Toastmasters and your role as a District leader

For the last 20 years I have been fortunate to have had a number of working experiences in multinational company and international NGO communities, that have uniquely quipped me to develop the skill as a team leader, working on some of academic training projects between China and US ranging from strategy planning to operational improvement. My love of tackling business development opportunity has also extended through into wide connections and alliance with other organizations through a long-standing and far-reached network.

What experience do you have in strategic planning?

As the leader of NGO communities, I have worked with captains of industry to develop significant strategic policies and planning for the last decade. These connections allowed me to interact with boards of corporations, educational institutes and nonprofits. My robust experience has shaped me into a well-informed leader who is able to meaningfully contribute to decision-making while interacting with diverse teams.

What experience do you have in the area of finance?

Within organizations, I've worked to establish and manage budgets for our teams. This aligned financial resources with priorities. Our goal was to use financial resources to provide various projects with what they needed to be successful.

What experience do you have in developing procedures?

I have developed procedures while leading and serving on the mayor training program in the US during the period of 2014 to 2015. I set direction, selected curriculums as well as logistics and assessment of feedback. This procedure applied to teams followed throughout different countries afterwards. I also ask inputs from others with different perspectives. This help us develop more creative and better solutions.

What lessons did you learn from previous leadership positions?

Unite a team as one body, seeking and developing the strength of each individual. The vision and mission of the team are most important for a leader, try to keep the vision as the emotional GPS through all difficult time, and will eventually see what you believed. It’s vital to set an excellent example and model the behaviors I want others to exhibit. It starts with me.

Why do you want to serve as a District leader?

To serve more people, to empower more areas and clubs. To lead with love and heart. The lessons I learned on Toastmaster journey enable me to advance my career and enrich other areas of my life, I have worked my way up the Toastmaster leadership chain and am now ready to serve as a District leader. This role allows me to make the biggest difference and serve the greatest good.

In your opinion, what are the District mission’s major objectives and how would you work to achieve them?

The major objectives of district mission is to facilitate and support all clubs to be excellence, and I will lead my team to serve and meet what the clubs and areas need with all our efforts and wisdom of envisioned leadership. I will be focusing on objectives in the 2020 Strategic Plan. Member growth, club excellence, and awareness, engagement, and participation are foundational.
