Relevant work experience and how it relates to Toastmasters and your role as a District leader

10 years of working experience as Executive Assistant in international companies, with communication with many C-Level executives in both China and abroad. 8 years of experience working in HR and Management function. Being work with strategic view and thought leadership. Being a host and coordinator for company annual party, community events, employee learning sessions, leading a virtual team to finish a project. 

 

What experience do you have in strategic planning?

Facilitate company management team on discussion of company vision, mission and goals. Setting KPIs for divisions within the company and host quarterly meetings to follow up. Facilitate executive meetings to review annual goals.

 

What experience do you have in the area of finance?

Keep proper booking for cost expenses categories when working as office manager. Contribute for the lines related to office management for the company annual budget. Facilitating weekly, monthly business meetings to discuss about revenue landing and forecast Working with Finance manager on annual budgeting, monthly budgeting and landing for the whole company Event budgeting, measure income as well as expenses on the spread sheet

 

What experience do you have in developing procedures?

As HR and Admin manager, one of my job is to develop, update and modify related company procedures, including hiring and interview procedure, onboarding procedure, checking out procedure. Travelling and expense application procedures etc. 

 

What lessons did you learn from previous leadership positions?

Leading and running clubs, areas, divisions and district in Toastmaster is all about people. Since we are a non-profit organization and leaders don't have authorized power. I think I could do better if I have learned systematically about how to run a team, from building trust, fostering commitment and solving conflict. 

 

Why do you want to serve as a District leader?

First, I want to stay in the District Officer team so that I could utilize my knowledge and expertise to serve more clubs and influence more members, helping them getting the most outcome from their Toastmaster experience. Second, being on the higher position as CGD, I could get more leverage, working with the Division Directors to run the District in a more strategic efficient way. Also, I want to contribute to the team building of the district Excom team, seem now our current term, we don't know each other as well as we do between members in a club. 

 

In your opinion, what are the District mission’s major objectives and how would you work to achieve them?

We Build New Clubs and support all clubs in achieving excellence. District leaders' responsibility are to promote the Toastmaster branding, getting more people committed to this kind of personal growth and self improvement. At the mean time, 'take care of' the current clubs within the District. To achieve the goals, we must prove that by following the Toastmaster curriculum, people could get benefit. We also need to make sure that members understand how it works and how to do it correctly. As the CGD's job is to support the clubs conduct quality meetings and help potential clubs getting chartered.
